We are here to have fun but also ensure the safety of the girls at all times!
*This is a live show! Please be alert and ready to help out!
*Please get your name badge and await instructions from the chaperone coordinator. Do not approach the band director Ms. Berry or Ms. Mote for any reason. They are busy coordinating the students. Any concerns should be channeled through the chaperone coordinator.
*If parents wish to eat, please do so before 3rd quarter break. During 3rd quarter you will be needed to assist the girls.
*If you need to leave your post for any reason let the chaperone coordinator know.
*Dancers are not permitted to eat in the stands. Only water is permitted in the stands.
*The Dancers are not permitted to use cell phones or ipods in the stands.
* Medication – Is available in the grey cases
*Medical Emergency – If a student has a medical emergency have someone get the band nurse. Then we must contact Ms. Mote and inform her. She and the nurse will decide on the course of action.
What To Expect
Pre Game: We will meet in the room across from the dance room at 6pm and have a brief meeting, sign the dividend book, pick up name badges and review the assignments. Generally we will all walk out together to the field ahead of the girls . Several parents will be posted to pass out water and seat cushions as the band and dance team file in to the stands.
1st Quarter: Some dancers may need to be escorted to the restroom. Always walk between the cheerleaders and field. Never walk between the cheerleaders and the fans.
2nd Quarter: Ms. Berry and Ms. Mote will move the dancers and band to the field to warm up.
Half Time: Those doing props should be ready and understand what they need to do.
3rd Quarter: All students (except those that lost third quarter privileges) are on break. They are not allowed to socialize with anyone outside of the band/dance team. The coordinator will handle those girls. They can only use our concession to purchase food or drinks. No condiments are allowed due to possibly staining the uniform. Several chaperones should walk with the girls to the restroom and two chaperones should stay by the restroom area to make sure the girls are following the rules. PDA (public display of affection) is not allowed – this includes holding hands, kissing, making out, serious hugging, etc. Please report any of this behavior to the chaperone coordinator.
4th Quarter: Some dancers may need to be escorted to the restroom. Always walk between the cheerleaders and field. Never walk between the cheerleaders and the fans. Chaperones may be needed to help take props back to the dance room.
End of Game: Before the game ends chaperones will need to make a human wall to block anyone from crossing over the band/dance side. If we win the football players in the past have come up to the stands to celebrate with the band/dance team. Be prepared for a stampede. Please return your name badge to the chaperone coordinator at the end of each game.
Coordinators: This is the person(s) that will coordinate the chaperones and fill in where necessary. If you have any questions please see the coordinator, not Ms. Mote. When we are at the game she is concentrating on the girls and what they need to do. She is depending on us to execute her instructions. Remember, this is a live show!
Pre-game Assistant: This is the person that assists the girls before each game with miscellaneous items from hair needs to administering Tylenol.
Photography: This is the person(s) that take pictures at the game for our website and photo albums.
Third Quarter Food Break: This is the person(s) that will assist the band with distribution of food to the band and dance team during third quarter. May also be needed to help the band set up food and clean up the food area.
Seat Cushions: These are the persons who pass out the seat cushions to the band and dance team as they are going up into the stands. Also these persons return the seat cushions to the box during fourth quarter. The cushions should be wiped with a towel if wet to prevent mold.
Water: These persons pass out water bottles to the band and dance team as they are marching in to the stands. Check with the dance team coordinator as to when to pass the water. The band is very strict about when they want the water passed out. These chaperones should also scan the stands after fourth quarter to be sure there are no bottles left in the stands
Rope Monitor: This person(s) is responsible for making sure fans do not cross over into the stands where the band and dance team are sitting. One of these persons should also sit in the middle of the bags the dance team has left in the stands during the half time show.
Props: These are the persons that will be responsible for assisting the girls with their props. It requires bending down quickly to place props and pick up props on the field. Once they take the field we must step back and wait for them to put down the hoops. At the appropriate time we gather the hoops quickly and remove them from the field before the band steps on them and breaks them. Poms may need to be placed for the girls as well. Other props will be added as the season progresses. We don’t sort the hoops, just grab them quickly. We will sort them later. It is important to stay out the way of the band, dancers and directors at all times. We need to be almost invisible. While it is exciting to watch the show, remember we are there to do a job.
Misc Duties: This is a live show! Not every situation can be anticipated. Therefore be alert and aware. Sometimes chaperones are needed to do something not listed. Be ready to do whatever is necessary to assist in the success of the team.
*Important Note: As you are monitoring the girls be aware of anyone that looks ill or overheated. Please let the coordinator or pregame assistant know if you see any student struggling. The band has on site nurses and they will help us with our girls. Our first priority is the safety of the girls!
Thank you for your volunteer efforts and supporting the Lake Brantley Dance Team!
