Why Fundraising?
The dance team receives absolutely NO MONEY from the school or county to fund our dance program. Each girl is required to purchase her own uniform pieces and sometimes participate in fundraising. It is a vital part of how our dance team survives so everyone must get involved.
We have 2 different kinds of fundraisers:
General Fundraisers
Individual Fundraisers
General Fundraisers are done as a group and the proceeds are put into the dance team's general account to be used at the discretion of the dance director.
Examples of General Fundarisers are:
Publix Begathons - Standing at the exit of Publix politely asking for donations
Poinsettia Sales - Sold prior to the Winter dance show
Program Ads - Sold at both Winter and Spring dance shows
For 2008-2009 We raised over $1600 just standing in front of Publix one weekend!
So those fundraisers are vitally important to our dance program.
Individual Fundraisers are done as a group but a minimal amount of the proceeds are given to the general fund with the balance being credited to each individual girls fund depending on what she sells
Examples of Individual Fundraisers are:
Enjoy Book Sales - Selling coupon books in local neighborhoods
Partylite Candle Sales - Selling candles in local neighborhoods
We also do 2 fundraisers with the Lake Brantley Band
Those are:
Apple Canvassing
Luminary Canvassing
We march with the band during football season. We also attend marching festivals with the band. We operate as a whole unit when with the band. The Lake Brantley Band program is one of the finest in the area and the band director is very generous to the dance team with regard to paying for props and entrance fees into festivals etc.
To show our appreciation, we agree every year to have the dancers participate in their 2 major fundraisers. These fundraisers DO NOT cost any dancer or her parents any money. All we are required to do is spend 2 Saturdays driving around with fellow dancers in a parents vehicle politely soliciting for apple or luminary sales.
Those dates are given WELL in advance so everyone can participate.
The Dance Team and Band are two separate programs but come together to operate as one whole unit.
When they take the field to perform a half time show, you will realize why we are #1 in the State of Florida!
